Bridging & Civil Structures
Our Bridging and Civil Structures team delivers innovative, efficient designs that balance practicality with style. The Holmes Consulting team loves the tough engineering challenges presented by New Zealand’s severe landscape and marine environment, and we’ve taken that knowledge right across the world. We deliver work all over the country, as well as designing port structures in San Francisco, and even creating oil tanker berths in Saudi Arabia. Wherever we work, our approach has the same focus on rigour and due diligence that’s always set us apart.
Our approach consistently delivers inventive, efficient designs that recognise the need for speed of construction and minimising wastage. We’re often called in to work on the most challenging projects, where the terrain is extremely difficult or environmental protection is key. We love that kind of project, balancing great design with the pragmatism and practicality that we’ve built our reputation on.
Right now, we’re part of the team delivering Transmission Gully, one of New Zealand’s largest and most ambitious infrastructure projects. ‘Gully’ doesn’t really describe the incredibly steep country the new road travels through – some of the bridges we’re working on are 200 metres long and 100 metres high. It’s a huge, challenging project that we’re delighted to be part of: the new road, and its many bridges will provide vital access in and out of New Zealand’s capital city.
