The new Vietnam Airlines Corporation hangar at Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City has been open since 2012. The single main bay plus an enclosed tail annex are approximately 138m long and the maintenance facility has a footprint of approximately 7,800 m2. The front of the hangar offers a clear span of 95m to accommodate the aircraft expected to be serviced here – an A380-800, Boeing 777 or Boeing 747.
The hangar roof is constructed of eight structural steel stressed arch trusses supporting a lightweight steel cladding. The tail enclosure consists of an additional four portal trusses of 33m clear space. Each of the stressed arch trusses for the VAC hangar is a plane steel structure, which is 105m in width. Prior to stressing they are 150m in length, and following the stressing of the arches they are 30m in height.
