Holmes Group, Founding Signatory of the Diversity Agenda Accord

The Diversity Agenda began back in April 2018, initially with a focus on achieving 20% more women by 2021. The Diversity Agenda aimed to dramatically improve the current statistics in engineering and architecture, and create the kind of workplaces where women wanted to be. Over the past 12 months, this focus broadened to now include all facets of diversity, and the equally important role that inclusion plays as well.

On Thursday, 20 February, Holmes Group CEO – John Hare, signed the Diversity Agenda Accord (on behalf of all Holmes subsidiaries) along with several other key companies who are also committed to improving the current stats our industry faces. Did you know, only 14% of engineers in New Zealand are female, and only 4.5% of all engineers and architects are Māori.

Firms across Aotearoa in engineering and architecture, as well as firms that work within these industries, are encouraged to sign up as members – to show their commitment to diversity and inclusion. The Diversity Agenda is held in high esteem as an initiative with integrity and purpose, something the wider Holmes Group is proud to be a part of!
