Queenstown Courthouse
1As part of a larger development – the Post Office Precinct – the Queenstown Courthouse has contributed to the improvement of a town centre that plays host to hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world every year. The original courthouse, which dated back to the 1800s, was a tired building without the necessary capacity and functionality for today’s needs.
2When the decision was made to upgrade the courthouse, Holmes Consulting was called in to handle the engineering. Ultimately, the building needed to improve its layout to boost security, be robust and resilient in the seismic environment, and make the most of the space available. The court is set over three levels, spanning 1745 square metres, with two courtrooms, mediation rooms, legal chambers and a carpark.
3We worked to ensure construction was as easy as possible, and materials were minimised to save time and money. We continue to work on a large number of public, commercial and luxury residential projects in the Queenstown region, where we have an ever-growing team of engineers and drafters. We’ve had a hand in a number of the other Post Office Precinct projects over the years, and there are a number of new projects on the horizon. We’re never short of staff willing to transfer to beautiful Queenstown when new work comes in…
