Graduate Engineer - Geotech

  • Full Time
  • Wellington
We're looking for the next generation of Holmes Engineers to join us. If you're completing your final year of study towards a BE (Hons) in Civil Engineering and are passionate about specialising in geotechnical engineering—then we'd love to hear from you.

As a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer, you'll work alongside brilliant engineers and technical experts on important design and detailing work, attending site visits and gaining exposure to complex and interesting engineering challenges. Geotechnical engineering at Holmes means being creative, establishing new ways of developing foundation design and challenging current practice.. We aim to be at the forefront of new developments in the geotechnical sector. Our team work on foundation design, award winning bridges, local ports and large reservoirs. You won't be hidden away in a dingy corner or stuck at the photocopier day after day - you'll get to work on live projects, with all the support, coaching and infrastructure you need to succeed.
Our graduates love working alongside some of the industry's finest minds, learning the technical skills to back up the classroom theory. It's a vibrant, exciting environment where you'll get plenty of opportunity to see how things work in the industry. We have great training and development programmes and regular tech sessions to help build your skills, and - after the work's done - we're never afraid to have a good time. It's an unashamedly high-performance culture, but we're always up for a laugh.
Across the country we've got touch and indoor netball teams, pub quiz groups, running groups and boot camps. There are plenty of golfers around the place, lots of trampers, and a number of keen fishermen and women. We have skiing and cycling trips each year, and an inter-office challenge trophy for our 'funtech' challenges. Our Social Good team regularly organises activities that benefit the community, like volunteering at Habitat for Humanity or collecting for the City Mission. On Friday nights you'll find a good group of people sharing stories from the week in our staff areas, with a couple of drinks on offer if you're so inclined.

If this sounds like the culture for you, and you’re ready to work with some of the best in the business, we'd love to hear from you. Select 'apply now' with your CV, academic transcript and cover letter telling us a bit about yourself.

“Holmes is full of incredibly bright, driven and hard-working individuals, and has a culture of fun and camaraderie. The interesting and iconic projects that come our way are an added bonus, and the more I learn, the more I realise how much room there is to continue learning and growing beyond uni. Thankfully, there’s plenty of support at Holmes to help facilitate that learning.” Chloe Lau —Graduate Engineer.
