Stranges building wins Supreme Award

stranges-buildingThe Stranges building, on the corner of Lichfield and High streets in Christchurch, has won the Supreme Award at this year’s Christchurch Civic Trust Awards. The building, one of the first to be completed in the inner city since the earthquakes, is a strong and compelling design from architects Sheppard and Rout – with structural designs from Holmes Consulting Group. An iconic project we’re proud to have worked on.

Holmes wins Innovation category at RTC 2013

arts-centre-internal-revitHolmes Consulting Group’s groundbreaking use of Revit has seen them take away the top prize in the Innovation category at the 2013 Australasian Revit Technology Conference (RTC) held in Auckland recently.

Drawing attendees from as far afield as the United States, Singapore and Australia, this is the ninth year the RTC has run, giving Revit users the opportunity to learn from some of the world’s top instructors and industry experts. Read more

University of Auckland Project wins a Gold at New Zealand Commercial Project Awards

boyle-building-uni-of-aucklandThe New Zealand Commercial Project Awards have awarded the Central Plant and Boyle Building – Auckland Medical School, Auckland a Gold Award.

Holmes Consulting Group provided the structural design for the Boyle Building, part of the $100m upgrade to the facilities located on campus. We worked with partners Fletcher Construction, Rider Levitt Bucknall, Jasmax and Beca, with Beca providing services on the project.

John Hare receives prestigious award

john-hare-bwJohn Hare, a Technical Director at Holmes Consulting Group and principal engineer at Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (Cera) has won the prestigious Fulton-Downer Gold Medal – President’s Award granted by the Institution of Professional Engineers – New Zealand (IPENZ).

John was also made a Fellow of IPENZ (FIPENZ), which is defined by IPENZ: These membership registers include Professional Members that IPENZ recognises as having made a substantive contribution to the development of the engineering profession, its practices or IPENZ itself. Read more

Holmes Culley wins for Presidio Seismic Retrofit

presidio-1Holmes Culley, our sister company in San Francisco,  was on the winning team for the U.S. National Historic Landmark Presidio Buildings 101 & 103.

The client is The Presidio Trust and the lead architectural designer is BAR Architects of San Francisco. The project cost $20.1M US and is LEED-Gold certified. Read more

A big win for New Zealand structural engineering

Interior-Dome-Supreme-Court-IStructEHolmes Consulting Group has won the prestigious international 2010 Structural Award in the Heritage category from the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) in London

The award-winning project was the structural design of the new Supreme Court of New Zealand and the simultaneous seismic retrofit of the Old High Court.

“The protection of the old High Court building and its architectural heritage, particularly in Wellington, is an achievement that all those involved can be proud of. It also ensures that the building’s association with New Zealand’s legal history will continue well into the future,” Ministry of Justice Assistant Deputy Secretary (Courts) Andrew Hampton says.
